Tactical U’s Introduction to Shotgun Training Class is designed to impart the knowledge and skill set necessary to use a shotgun for purposes of self defense in situations where lethal force is necessary to protect the lives of your family and yourself. This shotgun training class begins with safety and weapon familiarization. Gun safety is ALWAYS a priority. A well maintained gun is a safe gun, and thus you will learn proper maintenance and care of your weapon. Watch as these West Palm Beach, Boca Raton, and Palm Beach County students practice loading and unloading their shotguns in both stressful and non-stressful situations. Challenges are incorporated into your training. Note how the Boca Raton, West Palm Beach, and Palm Beach County students issue loud clear challenges to warn off assailants.

Even though this Introduction to Shotgun Training Class is a basic beginner’s level class, the range portion is intense. Talking about how to use your shotgun is no substitute for actually firing the weapon and putting these lessons into action. Tactical U’s firearms instructors firmly believe that repeated practice is the key to making your shotgun skill set instinctual. This philosophy is demonstrated by the 100 rounds of bird shot, 50 rounds of 12 gauge buckshot, and approximately 15 slugs that each student is required to bring for the range portion of this beginner’s shotgun training class.

Shotgun safety is more than just knowing how to properly load and fire your weapon. Situational awareness is important. This means knowing what is going on in your surroundings at all times. When you are about to fire your weapon you need to keep in mind what is behind your target, as well as what has the potential of getting in front of your target. After you have discharged your shotgun it is important to take stock of not only the result of your shot, but any changes in your immediate vicinity. Watch the introduction to shotgun training video to see Tactical U’s firearms instructors requiring their West Palm Beach, Boca Raton, and Palm Beach County students to check their surroundings for potential threats even when behind cover.

Also illustrated in the shotgun training video are various maneuvers displayed by our Palm Beach County shotgun training students. A self defense situation involving your shotgun usually will involve movement as well. Understanding how to give ground while maintaining your rate of fire will discourage assailants from closing range with you and give you time to reach appropriate cover. Watch our Boca Raton shotgun training student move laterally while keeping his shotgun engaged. Even though Tactical U’s Introduction to Shotgun Training class is taught at the beginner’s level, there are many basic skills that will be introduced and then drilled until competency has been demonstrated by the student.
