Most defensive encounters happen in or around vehicles – your car is one of the most dangerous places you can be when attacked. Vehicle Tactics Level One is a four-hour, advanced handgun class from Tactical U Firearms Training, designed for vetted shooters who already possess solid fundamentals and decision-making ability.
This course goes beyond static range drills, teaching you to draw, shoot, move, and make decisions in and around vehicles – including while seated, exiting under threat, and using vehicles for cover.
You must complete our Private Handgun, Handgun Fundamentals, or Gunfighting 101 classes (or demonstrate equivalent vetted skills) before enrolling. This is a high-level course requiring proven safety and control.
Situational awareness and preemptive positioning around vehicles
Drawing from seated positions with seatbelts on and off
Exiting a vehicle safely under threat
Using vehicles as cover and understanding ballistic considerations
Bullet behavior: skipping off pavement, glancing off sheet metal, and penetrating glass
When to shoot through barriers – and when not to
Engaging threats from inside and outside a car
Angles, mobility, and minimizing exposure during vehicle-based engagements
Decision-making drills under time and stress
Post-engagement assessments and immediate actions
To ensure safety and class integrity, students must demonstrate skills that convince the Tactical U Firearms Training staff they can complete this course safely and effectively. Prior attendance alone does not guarantee admission. Selection is at instructor’s discretion.
