Beginner Pistol Training Fort Lauderdale
The Handgun Fundamentals Course is the right starting point if you have no formal training or minimal range experience. You cover the seven core marksmanship fundamentals, safe draw and reholster technique, reloads, and malfunction clearance. Stephen Cohen runs every session personally. Small group format, 3 to 4 people with a 3 person minimum to run. Rental pistols are available for this beginner class.

Concealed Carry Pistol Training Fort Lauderdale

For shooters who carry concealed in Florida and want training beyond the permit qualification: concealed draw, weapon retention, verbal commands, and the legal use-of-force framework. The 2-hour session ($400) covers the essentials. The 4-hour session ($800) adds holster work and scenario drills.

What You Will Cover

Every pistol course at Tactical U, beginner or advanced, is built around the same seven fundamentals: stance, grip, sight picture, sight alignment, breathing, trigger control, and follow-through. From there, courses branch based on your level and objectives.

Private sessions also cover:

  • Safe OWB draw and reholster mechanics
  • Live-fire drills with immediate feedback
  • Error diagnosis for stance, grip, and trigger control
  • Malfunction identification and clearance
  • Situational awareness under stress

Course Requirements and What to Bring

  • Government-issued photo ID
  • Semi-auto pistol or revolver in good working order
  • Minimum three magazines
  • 200 to 300 rounds of factory-loaded ammunition
  • Sturdy belt and OWB holster (IWB not permitted for fundamentals)
  • Eye and ear protection
  • Closed-toe shoes

Arrive with unloaded pistols and magazines. Ammunition must be in original factory boxes, stored separate from firearms.

Is this class for beginners?

Yes. The fundamentals group class is specifically built for shooters with no formal training. Private sessions are available for all skill levels including first-time shooters.

Do I need a CCW permit to train?

No. These are skill-based courses, not licensing classes.
